Struggling Old Friends
My parents supported Meals on Wheels for as long as I can remember, and now it is my special privilege to continue the tradition. I have discovered that many Senior Citizens are very lonely . . . Tragically, many are all but forgotten by their families, and it is so good knowing that these forgotten old friends receive regular visits and nourishing meals from the Meals on Wheels team. I would like to applaud all who help to make this vital service possible.
The twilight years. A time that, in an ideal world, should be spent surrounded by loved ones. A time that should be filled with reminiscences, delicious lunches and easy afternoons. A time that – in many people’s lives – is the first they’ve had to put their feet up, after a lifetime of work, stress and trying, against all odds, to be the best they can be.
