Struggling Old Friends
It was my privilege to go out on a Meals on Wheels field trip and to witness, first hand, the heartache and the hardship amongst the elderly. When I returned to work, I challenged my staff to each sponsor at least one meal a month for a struggling Senior Citizen . . . on the condition that the company would match their sponsorship. The response was heartwarming indeed. As a team, my staff and I now sponsor 138 meals every month, and we are very happy to be making a difference in this way.
The twilight years. A time that, in an ideal world, should be spent surrounded by loved ones. A time that should be filled with reminiscences, delicious lunches and easy afternoons. A time that – in many people’s lives – is the first they’ve had to put their feet up, after a lifetime of work, stress and trying, against all odds, to be the best they can be.
