Struggling Old Friends
As a single parent I struggled to find opportunities for my daughter, Carey, to interact with her Seniors. Then I decided that we would adopt the nearby Meals on Wheels old age home. We are privileged to be able to sponsor a few meals each month - and also to visit our old friends every week. They are very lonely . . . and they are just such a wonderful encouragement to both of us.
The twilight years. A time that, in an ideal world, should be spent surrounded by loved ones. A time that should be filled with reminiscences, delicious lunches and easy afternoons. A time that – in many people’s lives – is the first they’ve had to put their feet up, after a lifetime of work, stress and trying, against all odds, to be the best they can be.
