Struggling Old Friends
When Meals on Wheels found me, I was starving, my house was really just a big box made of cardboard and plastic. The ladies have been very kind to me – bringing me food and soup and bread - and every month they bring me soap and toothpaste. I no longer have fear or hunger . . . . . and I am full of thanks for this very good service.
The twilight years. A time that, in an ideal world, should be spent surrounded by loved ones. A time that should be filled with reminiscences, delicious lunches and easy afternoons. A time that – in many people’s lives – is the first they’ve had to put their feet up, after a lifetime of work, stress and trying, against all odds, to be the best they can be.
