Struggling Old Friends
A severe heart attack left my 83 year old husband semi-paralyzed down the one side – and I am now bedridden. As much as we need professional nursing care, we simply cannot afford such a service. While my husband does try his very best in the kitchen, in his condition food preparation is most difficult and even dangerous. Meals on Wheels for the Aged is an answer to prayer. The voluntary helpers have gone the second mile for us and have helped us out of an almost impossible situation.
The twilight years. A time that, in an ideal world, should be spent surrounded by loved ones. A time that should be filled with reminiscences, delicious lunches and easy afternoons. A time that – in many people’s lives – is the first they’ve had to put their feet up, after a lifetime of work, stress and trying, against all odds, to be the best they can be.
