Struggling Old Friends
Sally and I had a very happy marriage, then at the age of 72 she passed away quite unexpectedly. I miss her so much, and I feel so lost without her. And now without her pension cheque to help towards the rent, I simply cannot make ends-meet. I’m so grateful to Meals on Wheels for the delicious food, for the friendship and for the encouragement.
The twilight years. A time that, in an ideal world, should be spent surrounded by loved ones. A time that should be filled with reminiscences, delicious lunches and easy afternoons. A time that – in many people’s lives – is the first they’ve had to put their feet up, after a lifetime of work, stress and trying, against all odds, to be the best they can be.
