Struggling Old Friends
I grew up as a sickly child - and I can hardly remember a time in my life when I felt really well. My wife has always been a wonderful friend and companion, but now that she is becoming frail, and now that I am bedridden, we simply could not survive without the help of the local Meals on Wheels service. We salute the big-hearted people who give so unselfishly to this most worthy cause.
The twilight years. A time that, in an ideal world, should be spent surrounded by loved ones. A time that should be filled with reminiscences, delicious lunches and easy afternoons. A time that – in many people’s lives – is the first they’ve had to put their feet up, after a lifetime of work, stress and trying, against all odds, to be the best they can be.
