Struggling Old Friends
After a protracted illness my husband passed away. His medical expenses far exceeded his medical aid cover and I was left virtually penniless. I never imagined that life could be so difficult or so lonely. If not for Meals on Wheels I would never cope.
The twilight years. A time that, in an ideal world, should be spent surrounded by loved ones. A time that should be filled with reminiscences, delicious lunches and easy afternoons. A time that – in many people’s lives – is the first they’ve had to put their feet up, after a lifetime of work, stress and trying, against all odds, to be the best they can be.
